Building Our Village: Why We Are Launching SPHSP.com—Our Very Own Social Network

Topic: Announcing our independent social media platform at SPHSP.com

Parenting is a beautiful, messy, and deeply rewarding journey. But when you are doing it solo, the challenges don’t just double—they multiply. For years, our mission here at Single Parents Helping Single Parents (SPHSP.org) has been to advocate for, uplift, and provide structural support to solo mothers and fathers navigating the ups and downs of raising a family on their own.

Today, we are thrilled to take a massive leap forward in how our community connects. We are officially introducing our brand-new sister platform and interactive hub: SPHSP.com.

If SPHSP.org is our organizational foundation, then SPHSP.com is our living room. We’ve built an independent social media website—completely separate from major networks like Facebook—designed from the ground up by single parents, specifically for single parents.

Your Own Independent Social Space

We know that mainstream social media can sometimes feel overwhelming, crowded, or impersonal. That’s why we created SPHSP.com. It offers the familiar, easy-to-use features of a social network, but in a private, dedicated space where you don’t have to explain your situation—everyone here already gets it.

🌟 Key Features of the New Platform:

  • Custom Member Profiles: Express yourself, share your story, and let the community know a bit about your family. Your profile helps you find like-minded solo parents who share your interests, parenting styles, or age groups.
  • Build Your Own Local Groups: Want to start a weekend hiking group for solo parents in your town? Or maybe a co-op childcare circle in your neighborhood? You have the power to create and manage your own public or private groups right on the platform.
  • Childcare Swapping & Resource Sharing: A trust-based system where group members can trade childcare hours, share advice on navigating one-income budgets, or pass down clothes and toys.
  • Peer-to-Peer Mentorship: Newly solo parenting? Connect through our network with seasoned single parents who are ready to offer a grounding, supportive hand.

Why Two Sites?

We wanted to ensure that our advocacy, legal resources, and non-profit initiatives (.org) stayed clear, focused, and accessible to the public and potential partners.

Meanwhile, our community members needed a dedicated, private, and highly interactive social media space (.com) where they could communicate freely, build real-time connections, and organize local meetups without the corporate noise of traditional social media. Together, the two platforms form a complete ecosystem of support.

“It takes a village to raise a child, but single parents often have to build that village from scratch. SPHSP.com is the digital blueprint for that village.”

How to Get Involved Today

The strength of SPHSP.com depends entirely on the hands that build it. Whether you are looking for support or you are a seasoned solo parent ready to lead a local chapter, there is a place for you.

  1. Create Your Profile: Head over to SPHSP.com, set up your secure account, and personalize your profile.
  2. Start or Join a Group: Plug into your city or regional chapter, or hit “Create Group” to start building your own local circle today.
  3. Spread the Word: Share the link with a solo mom or dad who needs to know they aren’t carrying the weight of the world completely alone.

We are so excited for this next chapter. Let’s keep helping each other, one post, one group, and one milestone at a time.

“Growing Pains” Kirk Cameron made an educational documentary called “Homeschool Aweking”

This story or documentary really hits home for me especially when I was criticized and demonized by my own family for wanting to homeschool my own daughter Ella Leach when she was just a baby.

The documentary will only be shown in theaters on June 13 and 14.

Cameron’s point of view about the way children are educated in school, the actor recommends that children could be better educated at home.

Cameron, the “Growing Pains” actor, released a documentary called “Homeschool Aweking” where he criticizes pubic education in U.S. schools, calling them inaccurate and immoral.

Cameron has said that in the public system unfortunately does not work with the people, but against them, in his opinion the public school is America’s number one enemy. The actor recommends taking the reins of education, because whoever has control of the textbooks controls the future.

Home schooling is better
One of the firsts of the documentary is to remove the taboo that homeschooling is bad and the people who do it are rare and underdeveloped compared to people who are taught in a regular school.

“The freedom we had was so worth the small sacrifice it was to teach the kids,” one mother explains in the trailer. “Now 12 years later, I realize it wasn’t a sacrifice – it was a total gift.”

Actor Kirk Cameron on his new movie ‘Home School Awakening:’ “We’ve become grossly aware of the inaccurate and immoral things that the public school system has been teaching our children .. The public school system has been public enemy number one.”

The pandemic transformed education
ABC News reported in early April that 18 U.S. states shared data from the current school year; the number of students taking classes at home increased by 63 percent in 2020-2021, then dropped only 17 percent in 2021-2022. This is an indication that for safety and better education, parents have decided not to send their children to school.

Families across the nation are experiencing the homeschool awakening, taking advantage of the freedom and opportunities for self-discovery — with the world as their classroom. Join award-winning actor, Kirk Cameron, as he dives into the adventures of dynamic American families on a mission to put fun and faith back into learning. The Homeschool Awakening explores the ins, outs, and honest answers to homeschooling’s most frequently asked questions.
